As I was reading what to do around Raton, I found out about the York Canyon Road (or 555, UT).
York Canyon Road spans from Raton, NM to the Vermejo Park Ranch. There is no way out and you back the way you went. We did about 30 miles up the road, turned around and came back to Raton, NM.
It felt good to ride on the motorcycle after a couple of days in the car but compared to what was coming next, I am glad we did not spend too long on it. There was no traffic.
